About Me...

I was born and raised in Albuquerque, NM. As a former high school teacher, I have a deep understanding of people as learners. I bring a well-rounded client centered approach into my practice. I have an intuitive knowledge of meeting clients where they are.

I hold a Masters of Social Work from New Mexico State University (2022) and a Masters of Special Education from the University of New Mexico (1994).

I am Licensed Clinical Social Worker (2024) and have been working in the field since 2022.

Grief Journey

My Grief Journey began when I was 14 years old and I lost my beloved Grandma to cancer. Losing her changed my life and brought a sense of mortality front and center. Being naturally curious, I explored death and dying while in college through psychology courses. As a teacher, I was faced with modeling positive grief responses while helping lead young people through an understanding of the events of 9/11. This event shaped my work with children and grief. As an adult, I lost my Dad suddenly on Christmas Eve. This loss helped me understand how profound loss can have an effect on a family. Grief is not a straight line and everyone experiences grief differently and in their own time.

Traumatic/complicated Grief

I have a close understanding of traumatic/complicated grief, as I have worked with clients who have suffered loss through violent crime, suicide, accidental overdose, and sudden natural causes. I am able to utilize skills from a companioning model (Wolfelt), finding meaning and ritual (Kessler and Weller), CBT, Positive Psychology, Expressive Arts, Sand Tray Therapy, and EMDR.

Individual and group counseling

I have experience with in-person, telehealth, and group counseling. I work with clients based on their individual needs. I bring compassion, empathy, patience, and understanding to my work. I provide psycho-education and help build skills to navigate the path of grief. I will utilize a variety of modalities that best fit each client.

I am EMDR trained and pursuing Sand Tray Therapy Certification.
